Daniel Jonathan "Dan" Stevens (lahir 10
Oktober 1982) adalah seorang aktor Inggris. Dia terkenal karena perannya
sebagai Matthew Crawley dalam serial drama ITV yang terkenal,
Downton Abbey. Dia juga membintangi David dalam film thriller The Guest,
Sir Lancelot di Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, dan sebagai The Beast
/ Prince dalam adaptasi live Beauty and the Beast dari Walt Disney. Dia saat ini
membintangi David Haller di seri FX Legion.
Stevens lahir di Croydon, London. Dia diadopsi saat
lahir, oleh orang tua yang keduanya guru, dan dibesarkan di Wales dan Inggris
tenggara. Dia memiliki adik laki-laki yang juga diadopsi. Stevens menerima beasiswa di Tonbridge School, sebuah
sekolah independen di Kent. Di sana ia tertarik pada drama setelah mengikuti
audisi untuk peran judul di Macbeth bersama gurunya, novelis Jonathan Smith. Dari usia 15, ia menghabiskan musim panasnya berlatih dan tampil
bersama National Youth Theatre di London.
Stevens belajar Sastra Inggris di Emmanuel College,
Cambridge. Sementara di Cambridge, dia adalah anggota Footlights
bersama Stefan Golaszewski, Tim Key dan Mark Watson, dan juga aktif di
Marlowe Society. Dia pertama kali terlihat oleh sutradara Peter Hall pada
sebuah produksi Marlowe Society dari Macbeth, di mana dia memainkan karakter utama di samping anak perempuan Hall.
