Thomas Jacob "Jack" Black (lahir 28 Agustus 1969)
adalah aktor Amerika, pelawak, musisi, penyanyi, dan penulis lagu. Karir
aktingnya telah luas, terutama dibintangi dalam film-film komedi. Black dikenal
karena perannya dalam Shallow Hal (2001), School of Rock (2003), King Kong
(2005), The Holiday (2006), franchise Kung Fu Panda (2008–2016), Tropic Thunder
(2008), Gulliver's Travels (2010), Goosebumps (2015), dan Jumanji: Welcome to
the Jungle (2017). Dia telah dinominasikan untuk dua Penghargaan Golden Globe.
Black adalah vokalis utama dari duo rock komedi Tenacious D yang ia bentuk pada
tahun 1994 bersama temannya, Kyle Gass. Mereka telah merilis album Tenacious D,
The Pick of Destiny, dan Rize of the Fenix.
Thomas Jacob Black lahir di Santa Monica, California, dan dibesarkan di Hermosa Beach, California, putra insinyur satelit Judith
Love (née Cohen), yang bekerja di Teleskop Angkasa Hubble dan juga seorang
penulis, dan Thomas William Black. Ibunya dilahirkan sebagai orang
Yahudi, sementara ayahnya pindah ke Yudaisme. Black dibesarkan dalam iman

pindah ke Culver City bersama ayahnya dan sering mengunjungi rumah ibunya.

pada tahun 1982. Untuk sekolah menengah, orang tua Black mendaftarkannya di
Poseidon School, sekolah menengah swasta yang dirancang khusus untuk siswa yang
berjuang dalam sistem sekolah tradisional. Black juga menghadiri Sekolah

Pramuka. Pada usia 14 tahun, dia berjuang dengan kecanduan kokain. Kakak laki-laki berusia 31 tahun, Howard, meninggal karena
AIDS pada tahun 1989. Pada Januari 2006, ia bertunangan dengan Tanya
Haden, putri bassis jazz Charlie Haden. Keduanya menghadiri Sekolah Crossroads
dan, setelah kelulusan, bertemu lagi 15 tahun kemudian di pesta ulang tahun
seorang teman. Mereka menikah pada tanggal 14 Maret 2006, di Big Sur,
California.
Putra pertama Black, Samuel Jason, lahir pada 10 Juni 2006,
di Cedars-Sinai Medical Center di Los Angeles. Pada 23 Mei 2008, Black dan
istrinya memiliki putra keduanya, Thomas David.
Black mendukung kampanye pemilihan kembali Barack Obama pada
tahun 2012. Pada 2015, Black mengunjungi Kampala di Uganda, Afrika sebagai
bagian dari Hari Hidung Merah Comic Relief USA.
Black telah mengkritik kepresidenan Donald Trump, dan pada
tanggal 20 Januari 2017, tanggal pelantikan Trump, Black membawakan lagu
Tenacious D "The Government Totally Sucks" dengan bandmate Kyle Gass.
Sebelum pertunjukan, Black berkata kepada penonton langsung, "Kami belum
memainkan [lagu ini] selama bertahun-tahun, karena itu tidak pernah terasa
pantas - Tapi sekarang, kami senang untuk melepaskan binatang itu. Pemerintah
benar-benar menyebalkan."
