Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch CBE (lahir 19 Juli 1976) adalah aktor asal Inggris yang pernah muncul dalam beberapa film, televisi, teater dan radio. Putra aktor Timothy Carlton dan Wanda Ventham ini lulus dari University of Manchester dan melanjutkan pelatihan di London Academy of Music dan Seni Drama, memperoleh gelar Master of Arts di Akting Klasik.

Kemunculannya dalam televisi, meliputi penampilan di Silent Witness (2002) dan Fortysomething (2003) sebelum bermain sebagai Stephen Hawking dalam Hawking pada tahun 2004. Dia berperan sebagai Sherlock Holmes di serial Sherlock sejak 2010. Ia juga telah membintangi adaptasi Tom Stoppard untuk Parade's end (2012) dan The Hollow Crown: The War of The Roses (2016). Dia telah membintangi film Amazing Grace (2006) sebagai William Pitt Muda, Star Trek into Darkness (2013) sebagai Khan, 12 Years a Slave (2013) sebagai William Prine Ford, The Fifth Estate (2013) sebagai Julian Assange dan The Imitation Games (2014) sebagai Alan Turing. Dari tahun 2012 hingga 2014, melalui suara dan gerakan, ia memainkan karakter Smaug dan Necromancer dalam seri The Hobbit. Cumberbatch menggambarkan karakter Marvel Comics Dr. Stephen Strange di Marvel Cinematic Universe; pertama muncul dalam film Doctor Strange (2016).
