Artist of The Week: Riton

Henry Smithson (lahir 13 September 1978), paling dikenal dengan nama panggungnya Riton (/ riːtɒn/ REE-ton), adalah DJ dan produser musik elektronik Inggris dari Newcastle upon Tyne.

Setelah menyelesaikan universitas, Smithson memulai label Switch Recordings, di mana dia merilis dua single 12". Dia mulai menjadi DJ di klub malam "Shindig" Newcastle. Di sana, dia ditemukan oleh Mark Rae dan menandatangani kontrak dengan label rekaman independen Grand Central Records. Seperti Rae, ia kemudian bekerja di label/distribusi/outlet ritel Fat City Records di Manchester.

Rilisan pertamanya di Grand Central, lagu "Communicated", ditampilkan di album kompilasi Central Heating 2 (2000) dan diikuti oleh album debut instrumentalnya, Beats du Jour (2001).
